TOFTI Mahjong: Little Tile Garden

TOFTI Mahjong is a single-player tile-matching game built around classic Mahjong Solitaire rules. Remove pairs of matching free tiles to clear the board. The classic turtle arrangement has 144 tiles across five levels of height. For a shorter break, choose First Sprout, Butterfly, Water Lily, Roof Garden or Moon Garden. All six layouts are available from the beginning, with no paid unlocks or advertising required to open a garden.

A tile is free when no other tile overlaps it from above and at least one of its left or right edges is open. A tile blocked on both sides cannot be selected. Removing an upper tile can uncover the one beneath it, while clearing an edge pair opens a route into the row. Think about which move will expose the most useful tiles instead of always taking the first pair you notice.

The classic theme includes circles, bamboo, characters, winds and dragons. The four different flowers match each other, as do the four different seasons. The Little Friends theme expresses the same matching groups through creatures and small symbols: both the creature and its symbol must match. Changing themes during a round does not move tiles or change the rules.

New deals are constructed with at least one complete solution. Choosing other pairs can still lead to a dead end. Hint highlights an available pair, and Undo restores the last match or shuffle. Shuffle redistributes the remaining faces without moving their positions. If the final two tiles are trapped one above the other, shuffling cannot free them; use Undo or start a new game. The timer is informational, with no countdown or time limit.

The code, tile artwork, cover illustration and short synthesized sounds were created for TOFTI. The game contains no external game provider, in-game advertising, required account or paid lives. Your sound and theme preferences and completed-garden counts stay on this device when browser storage is available. Unfinished rounds are not saved. On a small screen, Zoom In enlarges the tiles and lets you scroll the board.

How to play

Click or tap a free tile, then choose its match. A tile must be uncovered and have at least one open side, left or right. An open diagonal corner alone does not make it free. Select the same tile again to cancel your selection.

In the classic theme, match identical tiles. Different flowers marked F can pair with each other, as can different seasons marked S. In Little Friends, match both the creature and its moon, star, leaf, heart, drop or diamond symbol. The theme button changes the artwork without resetting your round.

Hint highlights an open pair. Undo restores your last action. Shuffle keeps the positions and gives the remaining tiles a fresh matching arrangement; structurally trapped boards may require Undo or a new deal. Choose any of six layouts from Gardens. New Game opens a different deal; Restart in the Pause menu replays the same deal.

Use the arrow keys to move between free tiles, then Enter or Space to select. H gives a hint, U undoes and S shuffles. On a small screen, use Zoom In and scroll the playing area; Fit returns to the whole board. The sound button mutes the audio. Completed-garden counts are stored in this browser; reloading the page resets an unfinished round.
